Classes Offered
Acro
A style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements.  It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.

- Bare feet
- Hair in a bun

Ballet/RAD Ballet
A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps and poses.  At Dynamic Dance, we follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.

Classroom Dress Code

Primary Ballet
- Pink cap sleeve style bodysuit (skirt optional)
- Pink tights
- Pink leather ballet slippers
- Hair in a bun

Level 1 & 2  Ballet
- Tank style bodysuit with belt
- Pink tights
- Pink leather ballet slippers
- Hair in a bun

Intermediate Foundation to Advanced Ballet
- Burgundy or Black bodysuit with spaghetti straps and pinch pleat
- Pink tights
- Pink leather ballet slippers (no split sole)
- Pointe Shoes – as specified by teacher
- Hair in a bun

Master Class and Open Ballet
- Bodysuit
- Pink tights
- Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes
- Hair in a bun

Contemporary
Contemporary dance draws on both modern and postmodern dance as a source of inspiration.  The dance form combines modern dance elements and classical ballet elements as well as newer philosophies of movement that depart from classical dance techniques by altogether omitting structured form and movement.

Highland
A style of athletic solo dancing which evolved into its current form during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in the context of competitions at public events, where it is typically performed to the accompaniment of bagpipe music.  At Dynamic Dance we follow the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance syllabus.

- Ghillies

Hip Hop
Hip-Hop includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, and popping.  What separates hip-hop dance from other forms of dance is that is often freestyle in nature and refers to social or choreographed dance styles primarily danced to hip-hop music.

Classroom Dress Code
- Loose clothing
- Clean indoor shoes with support and laces
o NO slip-ons

Jazz
Jazz dance is frequently influenced by other dance styles such as acro, ballet, contemporary, lyrical and hip-hop.  In turn, many other dance styles are influenced by jazz dance.  Technique is the foundation of all modern jazz dance movement (curriculum commonly includes ballet training).

Musical Theatre
A form of theatre combining song and dance. The emotional content of the piece as well as the story itself, is communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole

- Shoes specified by Teacher
- Hair in a bun

Tap
A form of dance characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer’s shoe.  These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and as such, the dancers are considered to be musicians.

- Tights and/or shorts
- Tap shoes
o Competitive dancers must have Slip-On Tap Shoes
- Hair in a bun

"Wee dance" for children under 3
An exciting introduction to movement and music.  Students will learn to follow instruction in a fun and safe environment and will enjoy using an assortment of dance props.  Scarves, ribbons, drums and other rhythmic instruments help children explore the world of dance.

Classroom Dress Code for dancer
- Bodysuit or loose clothing
- Tights
- Clean shoes or Ballet shoes
- Hair pulled off face

Classroom Dress Code for parent
- Clean shoes or socks
- Loose comfy clothing
